David Petit
Chairman

After 18 years practicing as a Jersey advocate specialising in commercial law with particular focus on trust law, David took the opportunity to acquire an interest in and a directorship of VALLA in 2008. Outside of work David has difficulty in allocating his time between a number of activities including fishing, boating, navigating in motor rallies, gardening, football, golf, rugby, birding, travelling and gastronomic pursuits generally.

Charles Hotton
Managing Director

Charles holds a BSc (Hons) in Financial Services, is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and has worked in the financial services industry for over 30 years in private client wealth management and planning. Charles has particular experience in dealing with clients from the Far East and enjoys the technical aspects of planning and structuring for families to ensure their specific needs are met.

Away from work and family commitments, Charles enjoys a very active lifestyle which includes going to the gym, cycling, kayaking, paddle boarding, photography and enjoying his collection of motorcycles.

Mark Baker
Director

After leaving the Royal Navy Mark commenced his work in the finance industry in 1990 as a book keeper. He qualified as an accountant in 1998 after moving into client administration and joined VALLA as finance and a client administration director in 2008. As a keen golfer he now tries to play a round of golf in every country he visits. With two young children he does not have much time to undertake other sporting activities but enjoys the sight seeing whilst driving his children to their social gatherings.

Peter Scull
Director

A member of STEP, the Institute of Financial Services and holder of an IAC from the Securities Institute, Peter has worked in the fiduciary services industry for over 40 years, focusing mainly on private client and family services. A keen sportsman actively participating in golf and involved behind the scenes in football, Peter also enjoys travelling, good food and wine shared with family and friends.

Grainne McGinley
Director

A member of STEP and a qualified accounting technician, Grainne has worked in the financial services industry for over 18 years, specialising in private client and corporate real estate services.Grainne has particular experience in dealing with the sensitivities of family trusts and the dynamics that can arise from these. A keen cyclist, Grainne also enjoys travelling and walking with her dogs and if she has any spare time can be found watching rugby matches.

Nathan Petty
Director

A qualified member of STEP, Nathan has worked in the financial services industry for 20 years. Regularly away from the office on business, Nathan enjoys interacting and working with clients and advisors alike to build strong and lasting relationships. Away from work Nathan is kept busy at home with family commitments, but originating from Leicester always takes time to check on the progress of Leicester City and Leicester Tigers.

Mathew Beale
Head of Compliance and MLRO

A seasoned industry professional with over 25 years’ experience, Mathew embarked on a financial services career after leaving the British Army. Mathew spent 10 years in the asset management business before focusing on financial services regulation where he spent seven years working for the regulatory body known as the Jersey Financial Services Commission in the capacity as senior manager responsible for the day to day oversight of Jersey regulated financial services businesses.

Mathew is a regular speaker at compliance seminars and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and & Investment.

Hazel Turmel
Money Laundering Compliance Officer

Hazel has worked in the finance industry for over 20 years, predominantly in the trust and company sector. As MLCO, she now focuses on risk. Hazel holds the ICA diploma in governance, risk and compliance. Her outside interests include soft furnishings.

Jon Donald
Client Service Director

Jon specialises in the provision of private client and fiduciary administrative services to international, private and corporate clients. Jon has held a number of other senior roles within the industry and specialises in business operational matters as well as wealth management services for high net worth individuals and corporate clients. Jon holds an MA (Hons) in Economics, is FCCA qualified and is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments.

Away from work, Jon enjoys cycling, football and swimming.

Alison Finn
Accounts Manager

Alison qualified as an ACCA in 2016 having worked in the finance industry in the trust and company sector for the past 15 years. Alison joined the company in 2009 and has been instrumental in running the sports and social club. Alison enjoys swimming, running, reading, food and wine.

David Haines
Manager

A member of STEP Dave has worked in the financial industry for 30 years, holding a number of senior roles within the wealth management and funds industry. Dave specialises in the management of sensitive trust matters and real estate transactions. He leads a team of administrators, working closely with the directors to ensure a strong focus on client relationships is maintained.

When not at work, Dave enjoys surfing and snowboarding, often combining these with his and his wife’s love of travelling.

Heather Barker
Manager

Heather has been working in the finance industry since 2005, specialising in the private client sector. She joined Valla in January 2018, as a manager, and is experienced in administering multi-jurisdictional structures involving trusts, companies, foundations and limited partnerships. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Ocean Science, and after returning from university to Jersey she attained her ICSA Diploma in Offshore Finance and Administration, and went on to complete ICSA CSQS, qualifying as a Chartered Secretary.

When not at work, Heather enjoys swimming and running, and regularly runs half marathons and other long distance races.

Richard Poingdestre
Assistant Manager

Richard has worked in the finance industry for almost 40 years, in a variety of roles but predominantly in trust and company administration. Richard spends most of his free time with his family but is a keen golfer and likes to get out on the course when time (and the wife) allows. He also has a keen interest in food and drink and is a member of CAMRA. Other interests also include photography, travel, fishing and football (he has been a Leeds United supporter since he was 7 years old).

Karen Ruderham
Assistant Manager

Karen joined Valla as an assistant manager in 2017, having worked in the trust and corporate services sectors for over 30 years. Karen has a wealth of experience in the administration and management of trusts and companies, including celebrities’ and sportspersons’ intellectual property and image rights, Formula One-related events, aircraft acquisition and ownership and commercial and residential property portfolios. Karen holds the ICSA diploma in offshore finance. In her spare time Karen enjoys boating and decorating her 250 year-old fisherman’s cottage with her partner and having fun with their grandchildren and springer spaniel.

Curtis Chilvers
Senior Trust Officer

Having joined VALLA in November 2014 after completing his A-Levels, Curtis has now finished his professional studies and is STEP qualified. Curtis has a broad knowledge but in particular administers corporate clients and real estate entities, together with more complex private client structures. Away from work, Curtis enjoys a very active lifestyle and was lucky enough to go to the 2014 FA Cup final which Arsenal won!

Julie Ann Doyle
Trust Officer

Jules has been working in the finance industry for 9 years, specialising in the private client sector, and is currently studying for her STEP diploma. Jules administers a wide variety of client portfolios, but focuses primarily on investment and property portfolios and trusts.

In her spare time Jules reads and paints and is a former graphic designer with a BA in Visual Communication.

Harry Le Breton
Trust Officer

Having graduated from the University of West England in 2014 with a second class honours degree in Animal Science (BSc Hons), Harry returned to Jersey to find an industry that would challenge and interest him and has since completed the ICSA certificate qualification. Harry administers a varied client portfolio including Formula 1 personalities and connected activities, to traditional private client trust and companies, yacht and property holding.

In his spare time Harry enjoys boating and wakeboarding around Jersey when the weather permits.

Cameron Donaldson
Assistant Trust Officer

Cameron joined VALLA in November 2015 after a short period living in America after finishing A-levels and is currently studying for his STEP diploma. In November 2017, Cameron was recognized by STEP Jersey as the joint top scoring student in the STEP Certificate in International Trust Management exam.

Abbie Wright
Assistant Trust Officer

Abbie joined VALLA in August 2016 after completing her A-levels and is currently studying for her STEP diploma. Abbie administers a varied client portfolio including Formula 1 personalities and connected activities, to traditional private client trust and companies, art and property holdings.

Abbie’s enthusiasm and attention to detail has meant she is heavily involved in complex client arrangements and supporting the managers of the wider team. In her spare time Abbie enjoys travelling, going to the gym and walking the family dogs.

Jake Muirhead
Trainee Administrator

After completing his carpentry apprenticeship in 2014, Jake made the move into the finance sector in 2015, before taking a sabbatical to travel around Asia at the start of 2017. Jake joined Valla in October 2017 and is currently studying for his Step diploma. Jake provides administrative support to the trust and company client facing teams.

Outside of work Jake enjoys going to the gym and playing weekly 5 a side football.

Julie Blampied
Project and Administration Support Officer

Julie has worked in the finance industry for over 20 years and obtained her STEP diploma in 2003. Having previously held a role as assistant manager Julie’s focus is now applying her extensive industry knowledge as a project and administration support officer, working with compliance and the client administration teams. Julie is a keen walker taking part in many charity walks in Jersey and enjoys worldwide travel and has an extensive collection of scarfs and pashminas acquired from her travels.

Alison Johnson
Consultant

A qualified accountant and member of STEP, Alison has worked in the finance industry for over 30 years. Having recently retired as Managing Director, Alison will continue to be involved in a general business advisory role and will also be assisting with the long term strategic planning for VALLA.

David Fitch
Consultant

David has over 35 years’ experience in the financial services industry and during his 23 years in Guernsey held senior positions with the offshore divisions of two FTSE listed banks. David achieved the Institute of Directors Diploma in Company Direction in 2002 (Dip.IoD), and has assisted VALLA as a consultant since 2014 in a general business advisory and strategic planning capacity. David enjoys playing tennis, gardening and spending time with his family which he is able to do having retired from full time employment in 2014.
