What’s in a name?
Our name was inspired by Lorenzo Valla, a 15th-century Italian humanist, rhetorician and educator with a professorship in eloquence. Valla’s family originated in Piacenza; his father, Luciave della Valla, was a lawyer who worked at the papal court; however, he was born in Rome, where he lived for the rest of his life. One of Valla’s most remarkable achievements lay in his emendations of Latin texts, and he is best known for his textual analysis, which proved that the Donation of Constantine was a forgery.
Today his name still stands for trust and honesty, the principal values of Valla.
